Hi guys

As some of you already know, I was thinking to change the number of
players allowed to play on a TLC to 6. This is the number of available
spots when I started playing, I remember on one server(GS) there were
7 spots available. This is the number we used when RpR hosted the first
TLC 2 years ago.

At that time, we considered that more than 6(then 7) players would be
too much for new players to handle. We wanted to get as much experience
as we could playing with 4-6 players. If we were 7, that was good, but
when the number jumped to 8 we decided to use a 2nd TLC server and 4
players to play there.

After some TLCs when most of us got some experience in playing different
roles with different classes and each leading at least two times, we
decided to keep only one server with 12 spots. I know back then, some
of us wanted to play together as a 10+ group, than be split as 5-6 on
two servers. Everything went well, except that since then not many
volunteered to lead when we were more than 6-7 players. I myself remember
having problems with some new players that joined at that time, trying
to explain and show what is the spirit of the game. In 2013 the TLC
was rarely hosted, so the main group didn't get together as much as
some of us would've liked.

What I'm trying to point out that when we are more than 6-7 players,
it's rare and quite hard for anyone else except me, Cat, DJ or Nik who
wants to lead. I'd like to see Damni, Serkses, Feld, Jacob, Max and
others to lead a map in their own style, as they never volunteered to
lead in our latest weeks when we had 8-10 players or more available.

I think it's best to keep a number of 7 players as a maximum to play
the TLC, and if we are more we decide if we'll play as a bigger group
without a leader. There are maps where you can't play with more than
6 at a time, so other have to wait. Also it's easier for the TL to
keep 6 soldiers to stick to his plan than 12 soldiers.

What do you say about it?

First, i agree with the 1st and 2nd paragraph, concerning the number of players, 7/8 is a maximum.

Also, it's true that we are lacking volunteers to be TL, it is every time like that, whether we are 5/6 or 7/8, when we ask the question "who wants to lead this map" we have very often a big silence which settles down. On the other hand, when the map is begun, because Snow has finally and one more time taken the role of TL because there was no volunteer, we rarely fail to see occur the interventions, the suggestions, critical and other grumbling for an action made unwillingly. It was also the case yesterday when NL was the TL. Then there are players who don't want to be TL but who have nevertheless ideas to make differently, so what they wait for to be TL and show their ideas or their plans ? For me, as i explained it also to Snow on game chat, it's a question of map, i don't want to lead a map that i don't like to play as a standard player, that's why i suggested to have something as a previous talk in order to make a selection of maps. I post it in the chatbox and i accepted to lead Normandy2 because it was one of my choice. Well, we finally failed the map (this bank cannot be hold only by the inside, we need support outside in the buildings around the place :slap: ), but it's the game, to experiment, to play differently, as Damni said in the chatbox.

So, i encourage people to be volunteer to be TL. For me, playing it as a group without a TL is not different as joining any other server with random players for having an hypothetical coop game. TLC without leader is no more TLC. So players, chose some maps that you want and like to play and lead them next time. :mm1:

Yes, but it we would all be on TS with microphone or not. That is a big difference. We
could decide together how to play the map, but on many maps you can't change the style
too much. I agree that there are many maps I don't favor playing, that's why we ask for
volunteers, because there might be a chance that one would have an idea how to play even
a crappy map.

But as I see, nobody is willing to come with an idea or really don't care how a map gets
completed.

There were many times when we didn't play with a TL and it was as fun. What about lives. I
vote for 1 life only, normal or hard difficulty, depending on the map. Africa 5 Art of Sand
would be a great map to lead, lost of possibilities and very challenging.

Well, we can try next time we don't have TL, we'll see.

What about posting the complete list of maps in something as a table, and each player write his name in front of the one he wants to lead in a TLC event ?

Or we can get together some evening to finish Burma1, Norway
and have a try for Art of Sand.
