The Battle of Atlantic was created by Nikita

Here is it !

More than 2:30 hours of documentary about the WW2 German U-Boot and the Battle of Atlantic, in English...

And of course, Lorient takes a major place in it. *

EDIT : 00:08 -> 00:10 "Today a peaceful heaven"... Well, don't exaggerate too much... :mm3: :whistle:

* I mean, not in the movie much, but sure in the battle

Just about the "peaceful heaven", some pictures that i've take today...

Would you have thought there would be all these boats?

This is view of the K3 from the terrace of the Villa Margaret, cool bar pub today.
This Villa Margaret is touching the one that was used by admiral Dönitz as his HQ and that is called sardine's villa.

This one is sardine's villa, former Dönitz HQ, back view. ( Not so often that one can see this house back view...)
The basement was fully finished and equiped as an underground command bunker. It remains today.
Military area today, closed gate.I had to hold the camera through to take this one.
Official residence of the admiral commanding the port of Lorient, even if not really used except for kinds of senior officers receiving.
Open to public very rarely and randomly, as for heritage days, some years...

Here's a view from the front of the beach, not by me but from the web. The big one is sardine's villa, the other is villa Margaret

Credit : I don't know, sorry...

Well, If you "disappear", I guess we will know that the French Secret Service thinks you're a spy. :lol: (I assume France has a secret service :confused: I know Canada has one, but it's supposed to be a secret....)

I live a few hours from where the HMCS Haida is docked (I will post some pictures as soon as I find them). During WWII, she operated in the North Sea escorting convoys to and from Russia, before moving to Plymouth to patrol the English Channel. Today, she is docked in Hamilton Ontario and is open, as a museum, to the public. If you are ever in this part of Canada, I would recommend that you check it out (as well as the Warplane Heritage Museum across town)
