So...
Q: Server appears greyed out and i can't join
A: Two options..
(i) You are running a different version of HD2 then the server's host. Make sure you
always have the latest version running (download v1.12 here)
(ii) You have not installed the HD2 Add-On Sabre Squadron, therefore you cannot join
any co-operative gamestyle server.
Q: When I try to join CD Key not valid message
A: Donwload the key changer .
As alternative, you can find the registry entry of H&D2 and modify the key
from there. Save it and you should be back on track.
Q: In-game map blocks spectator view
A: If you have no more lives and you cannot click one of the spawn points
on the map, then press ~ key and the press ESC key. Make sure you have already
clicked on one of the available spawn points on the map.
Q: Joining server and thrown back to main menu
A: It seems you don't have the current map running on our server. You either
need to donload and install the lastest coop map package or find and install the
map you're missing.
Q: Can't launch the game with Windows 10
A: setup.exe - Run as Administrator
Fullscreen antialiasing [OFF]
HD2.exe - Run as Administrator
Q: I'm using windows 10 and there seems to be a white line on top of the screen.
A: Go to Setup.exe in your game installation folder and and turn on Vertical Syncronization.
Q: Servers appear, but they are greyed out
A: Try to install the lastest 1.12 patch and start the game using Sabre Squadron .exe file.
Q: I created one or more serbers but others can't see my server
A: Make sure your friends have a setup similar to you. Follow instructions on how to set up a server .
Q: I can't see any servers when I click Multiplayer Internet.
A: Make sure your game is patched to 1.12. Since Gamespy is no longer offering their
support to H&D2, we have found alternatives to see the servers in game. The simplest
way is to add them one by one in your FAVORITES list using IP and PORT combination.
Other ways to make servers visible.
Q: Black bars on left and right side of screen though fullscreen in setup is ticked
A: You need to pick a higher resolution of your game from Setup.exe. If this
doesn't work, you will have to use the scaling option in your video card settings to
Full Screen. This will distort the game.

Can someone put the stuff below in the FAQ section of the forum?
I can edit it but I think I will screw up the formatting
If I made a mistake somewhere let me know.
DOWNLOAD HD2 AND SABRE SQUADRON (SS) AND HOW TO INSTALL:
Software you need:
You need WinRar or 7zip to unpack the game files.
WinRar: Choose language and windows version.
7zip: Choose windows version.
The game files are in an .ISO file (image file). To be able to install the game you need software to mount them so your computer thinks you have the disks.
Download and install Daemon Tools Lite (free software) to do this: Daemon Tools Lite
After installation you start Daemon and mount disk 1 and start game installation. When it asks for the next disk you point to disc2 and so on. Same procedure for SS. Of course you first need to download the game files.
1: Download HD2 and SS here: Installation disks (you don't need disk 3)
2: Download "no disk crack" here: H&D2SS_cracks no disc crack To play the game you only need HD2_SabreSquadron.exe.
3: Install HD2
4: Install Sabre Squadron (game will automatically be patched to version 1.12)
5: copy the crack to X:\Program Files\Illusion Softworks\Hidden & Dangerous 2\HD2_SabreSquadron.exe and replace original file. Use this file to start the game.
6: to find the servers read and execute this topic: how to find online servers (2 methods).
7: Download and install the latest Coop Map Package (CMP), at time of writing version 1.7 to have all custom maps: (DL the .sfx file) CMP 1.7
Now you are ready to play

Made the edit. The only thing not looking good is that there are two
expanded sections. I did set 2nd one two false and only 1st to true,
but it doesn't work

I found a solution for windows 10 and the game running windowed, hiding bottom and top of the screen.. All credits go to someone called Selvin:

I'm just pitching in to say that I've found a solution to the second problem, it being the game not running in fullscreen. This problem can be resolved as follows:
- Start HD2.
- Open task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del -> Task Manager)
- If you haven't done it already, click "More details" at the bottom left.
- Click the ">" next to the HD2 process.
- Right click the expanded process and select Maximize.
Problem solved
This seems to be working better if I wait until I arrive at the game's menu before I open task manager, but those interested should just assess what's working and what's not.
Works for me! Only downside is you seem to have to do it every time you start the game or alt tab out of it, it seems not to be a setting that stays.
Please let's add this to our FAQ

Could you verify if following solution works for you?
Create a shortcut for HD2 on e.g your desktop
Right-click and select properties
Select Run: Maximised
Apply/OK
