HD2 is fully installed and working on Pop_OS
Used the GOG version of the game, I tried it first just using wine - Multiplayer would work OK for a few maps before lagging, SP would not work at all for very low FPS. I could not even get through the tutorial. Gamemode was the solution, with it enabled the game runs perfectly in both SP and MP.

Anybody been having issues in multiplayer on Linux recently?
Lately my server list comes up, when when I attempt to connect I get an infinite "creating client / connecting to server" message.
It happened on Pop_OS the other week, and persists on my clean install of Linux Mint. Directplay seems to be installed for the wineprefix, and the game works fine in singleplayer
Guess I'm going to be doing some troubleshooting this weekend...

Nope. Works fine here.
Maybe try launching it from the terminal and see if there is any error?

Sometimes it's a problem from the master server. Ask JarnoKai on Discord to restart it
Everything seems fine here also

@jacobston do you have found any solution for this? I have the same issue on Linux Mint. Firewall is disabled and directplay installed via wine.

I remember I had to install gnutils and wine_gecko for some reason. It's a base Arch install.
Can this be a directx issue?
