Spectre Server Utility — Release
We’re happy to announce the release of Server Utility in Spectre: a dedicated server management tool for Hidden & Dangerous 2 and Sabre Squadron.
What is it?
Server Utility is a single interface inside Spectre to set up, run, and look after HD2 dedicated servers. It replaces the need to edit configs by hand and to babysit servers that crash or need restarts.
What can you do with it?
Configure servers — Define one or more servers (by port), each with its own profiles: session name, game style, rules, map rotation, passwords, and more. Switch between HD2 and Sabre Squadron per server.
Manage players — See who’s on, ban by IP (with optional in-game reason), and use a whitelist when you want invite-only servers.
Watchdog — Automatically restart servers when they crash. Optionally schedule a full restart of all servers (e.g. every N days). When you use scheduled restarts, you can send in-game countdown messages (5 minutes, 1 minute, 10 seconds, then “Restarting now”) so players aren’t caught off guard.
Automated announcements — Send recurring messages in-game at an interval you choose. Use one list for all servers or different messages per server. Handy for rules, server info, or event reminders.
Logs — View Spectre and daemon logs per server from the same UI. Configuration is stored in JSON and persists across restarts. Watchdog and automated features run while Spectre is running.
Get it
Server Utility is part of Spectre. Download the latest Spectre release and open Server Utility from the main launcher. Thanks to everyone who’s helped test and shape this, and to the HD2 community for the tools and ideas that inspired it (including Server Manager). We hope it makes running HD2 servers a bit easier.
