Russia moves toward decriminalizing domestic abuse
If you're a man in Russia you can beat your wife or daughter until she
can't walk no more and never be accused of violence. That's if you do
it once a year. But who counts those beatings anyway. Those who propose
this law say that this is what family is all about. It's a bit funny because
lately I've heard lots of pro-family movements... the great orthodox family
"According to Russian government statistics, around 40 per cent of all
violent crimes are committed within families. 36,000 women are assaulted
by their partners every day, and 26,000 children are attacked by their parents
every year."
