Yea, everything is great in this movie, even the duration... 
Btw, here are some pictures about this story in Stalag Luft III, near the city of Żagań, in Poland...
EDIT : If some of Polish lads here may translate the text on #3 picture, i'll appreciate very much...

One of my favorite movies. I think it's one of the very few movies I over-watched.

Hello ;-)
Now in Stalag Luft III is Muzeum.
That P.O.W camp was one of the smaller in Poland.
The most famous P.O.W camp was in Auschwitz--Birkenau.
And some history (for those who don't know it):

To allied airmen, prisoners of Stalaguluft III, the participators of the great escape. Żagań 2004.
BTW I live about 30 km from Żagań ;-)
