Qtracker server list problems - "Retrieving data..."

3 years 10 months ago - 3 years 10 months ago #1 by Maletzki
Hello guys,

it seems that hosting HD2 on a Windows Server 2019 OS isn't working after the latest updates.

Can anyone confirm this? I tried also a new installation (Hetzner Cloud).

Can also anyone confirm, that Windows Server 2012 R2 is still working?

Regards

Just a little update.

Further testing we specified the following:
- its not a port problem - its not working either with Firewall deactivated for activated
- server is showing with 33 player slots - when you click "Refresh", no data is given by the server
- some players can join, some players not - when a player has joined, all other players can also join (as for me)
- currently tested on Hetzner Cloud/Dedicated Server - might be a problem between Qtracker and Hetzner, maybe just a Windows Bug
- Windows Server 2012 R2 is also working in the same behavior

Just another quick update:

I managed to get Windows XP installed on a Virtual Machine and still the same problem.

So it's probably Qtracker, because I heard the same problem occurs on RpR servers.

Something is wrong here.
How Qtracker can affect servers ?
(Server sends data to Qtracker, then it updates its local server list ...now client sends request to Qtracker and gets updated server list...)

Does it send wrong data ?

Then all players should have problem but i saw only AVMG servers were gray, not selectable.
For me RpR servers are fine.

WinXP is good.
Wireshark is great tool to monitor data packets.

Confirming it affects RpR servers as well... Same situation happened to us when we were hosting TLC
Server displayed different gamemode and different number of slots etc. It's a Qtracker problem :/

No,I seriously doubt its Qtracker problem.... because only thing qtracker will send you is this:

List of active servers (in other form of data, understood by game)

Now your game sends query request to each of these servers, the request code data is this:
($FE,$FD,$00,$43,$4F,$52,$59,$FF,$FF,$FF)

Now every server send back data with all needed info:

QTracker is just a master server for clients to get info about active servers (ip : port)
