Thom is a New York photographer who created this series of photographs being entitled Soldiers Inventories. He reconstructed the evolution of the equipment British soldiers on a Millennium we illustrate their lives on the front. I was thinking about the same scene 
Personally, I would carry more ammo and honey instead of all
that stuff. I remember we played Arma some day this year and
Cat took somewhere over 70 kg of stuff

Well, in fact, many historians says that, concerning Operation Overlord and US troops in Omaha beach, lot of US soldiers get drowned due to the weight of their equipment.
This led to a reflection about the mobility of first wave troops and whether this whole mess was really useful for an assault section...
