June 13, 1944:

The first V1-rocket (Fieseler Fi103) attacks United Kingdom.

Originally, the rocket was named "Hellhound", but at the 17th of June 1944 it was decided to call it V1 (Vergeltungswaffe 1).
In UK the colloquial name was "doodlebug" or "buzz bomb" because of its typical engine sound.

This image is from June 15, 1944, a V1-rocket impacts into the city of London:

These weapons V1 and V2 was weapons of reprisals and the accuracy was not necessary in their doctrine of employment. It is the similar with weapons of mass destruction today, even if they hit one kilometer close, the result will be the same...

as I know, the V2 rocket is not like a airplane, is like a simple rocket, right? and btw, what this term "blitzkrieg" means? i don't know if i spelled it right but i never knew what it means. i could google search it but i think the best answer is here :D . I have also meet it in the CoH game and it is something about german heavy armor, right?
