For those of you who watched "Where Eagles Dare" and are wondering
about the helicopter that comes and lands in the Schloss Adler courtyard...
Some of you may wonder if helicopters existed at that time and why
weren't they used in combat...well maybe because they were too few and
too slow making them very vulnerable...

According to Wikipedia (French) informations : "the military helicopter in WW2 and Corea war was mainly used for the observation of artillery and the sanitary evacuation. From the middle of the 1950s, thanks to the progress realized by the French people in Algeria and Howze Board in the United States, the helicopter widens its use to the armed tactical transport, the most famous example of which is certainly UH-1 Huey used in a extensive way by the Americans in Vietnam."

Well, it's not because i'm French, but i prefer the French SA Gazelle... So pretty fine lines...
