Not many know the Nazi's had a secret project called "Schattenkiller" (shadow killer) which entered it's experimental phase in September 1941. It was a potion which turned all cells in the human body translucent. Of course soldiers would only be invisible when being naked which is why the first experiments were done in Africa. Another draw back was that any gear and weapons would still be visible so in the end the project was dropped as a secret weapon for complete armies but the potion was still used occasionally by spies throughout the war.

I happened to stumble upon a vial with this potion and put it to good use:
