Many testimonies - as in the heavy "The naked and the dead" by Norman Mailer - of former US soldiers who fought in the Pacific during WW2, talk about this grass. If i'm not wrong, this grass is called Kunai grass , and it was a real problem and a real handicap for US marines, because they didn't see anything with it and it was a great advantage for the Japanese defenders. :mm3:

with grass it's more realistic- if you prefer it or not depends only on your computer's performance

Personally, when i play this Burma2 map, i play it without grass, because of my poor eyes and also, i have to admit it, because i consider this map as one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult, of all the original game. :mm3:
