I found this old petrol lamp 3 years ago when we started destroing a part of
construction that was around the house, where they used to keep chicken
and pigs.
Cleaned it a bit. I don't know if I'll manage to clean and paint the metal parts
plus changing that mirror this summer. It's made of glass and evething is
functional, just needs that rust removed. Maybe it's around 40-50 years old
or older.

It's very nice, Snow
In my opinion you should just clean it and don't touch anything. old stuffs are beautiful just because they are old and especially authentic. However, if you want to paint it, ask to someone expert before to do anything. You risk to ruin it...

Nice!
Some advice: the wick is probably old and hard and won't function properly.
What you can do is get the wick out, put it in boiling water to get old the oils out (use old pan - outside if possible)
Than let it dry completely.
If you reinstall the wick and fill the lamp with oil give it at least 30 minutes to soak full of oil before you light it.
After lighting and letting it burn for a little while, blow it out and cut the burned part off square.
Some of mine

You're talking to him, the expert.
It would take half a day to do it, but it wouldn't be used for anything, maybe not
even as a decoration.
